Meet "MetaReX"-Our first robot for FIRST
The start of our journey into competitive robotics, built from ideas, failures, and late nights.
ABOUT OUR TEAM

We’re FTC #24905, METAL MAVERICKS

Located in Gurugram, Haryana. Consists of 5 members.

Team Overview

We build with a CAD-first mindset, iterate fast, and document the why behind every design choice.

Judging Ready

We focus on clear structure: design process, testing, iteration, and measurable improvements.

Highlights

Engineering + programming are built to be reliable under match stress — not just good on paper.

OUR STORY

Metal Mavericks is a story of raw grit, determination and passion.

We started this season utter newbies. Sure, some of us had skills but we’d never worked in a team like this or with a task this daunting. And FTC? It’s a challenge like nothing else. Top tier robotics, outreach, teambuilding and more. A crucible. We were intimidated. Then what happened? Well…

We blossomed. We worked, iterated and convalesced in unimaginable ways. From newbies to engineers testing shooter angle at 3:00 am. We became teachers, designers, financers and so much more. But most importantly we developed a respect for our community and engineering in a beautiful way. No longer newbies. We are the Metal Mavericks.

JUDGED CATEGORY HIGHLIGHTS

How we work

An in-depth journey into the workings of Metal Mavericks

Connect

Learn from veterans. Apply it fast.

We have prioritized creating connections with veteran teams to learn from their experience and Grow as a rookie team. Engaged in technical discussions with FTC Team GTT (Gujarat Tech Titans), reviewing robot design approaches, pit interview expectations, and FIRST Core Values. These interactions directly influenced our design documentation and judging preparation.

Design

CAD-first, practicality + elegance.

CAD design remained a cornerstone in our design process. All aspects of the robot were fully modelled in CAD before physical implementation. Practicality and elegance too, were major design criterias which is further proved throughout.

Innovate

SWOT + STEM analysis, continuously.

SWOT and STEM analysis was done continously with an emphasis given on understanding the whys of our robot. Our design process was fully documented with in depth iteration and testing.

Think

Portfolio is the proof.

We believe our highly detailed portfolio, with detailed robot design process, tells our story.

Motivate

Sustainable growth as a rookie team.

From the beginning of the season, we defined team goals and created a comprehensive season plan, on the basis of our status, strengths, and learning stage as a rookie. We are a rookie team with limited prior exposure, so we prioritised developing our skill sets to succeed in FTC and also allow us to confidently train the next generation of mavericks. This foundation enables us to scale accurate, sustainable outreach in future seasons through mentoring and knowledge-sharing.

Control

Driver aids, smarter control.

We despise the weakness of flesh and implement a variety of driver and control aids. Limelight auto angling, self parking, software defined RPM control for shooter wheel etc.

TEAM GOALS

Motivate to achieve goals

As our first year together in FIRST, our team decided to have a self-assessment. We learned about each other’s top strengths, and discovered how, as a team, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

  • Build strong team relationships and uphold stability through trust, communication, and consistency.
  • Grow as a rookie team by learning from senior teams and strengthening our skills.
  • Continuously improve our robot with iteration.
  • Develop a robust and democratic design process.
  • Qualify for worlds in our first season.
  • Obtain reliable funding to ensure future team success.

FIRST CORE VALUES

What drives us

Discovery

Discovery has defined our journey. Every day revealed new ideas, designs and fabrication techniques.

Innovation

Innovation was the motto this year. Given the relative simplicity of the game only truly innovative designs would survive.

Impact

Our impact focused on us and the people around us. As newbies we strived to turn ourselves into engineers and then branch out into our community as well to show that robotics truly can be more than robots.

Inclusion

Our team has members from across the nation. We strive to bridge our geographical and cultural differences at every step. Moreover, an honest effort was made to ensure that all members felt like the team was their family.

Fun

Fun was a given. After all building robots, coding and working together is fundamentally an awesome activity.
